Supported Local versions
The add-ons require Local 6 or newer and were developed against Local 10.1.2 on macOS.
Host requirements
- Cloudways: a WordPress application with SSH, rsync and WP-CLI; API access token for API discovery and backup/cache actions, or application SSH details.
- Bluehost shared: enabled Shell Access, the server IP, SSH username, and an authorized key or supported password login.
- Bluehost Cloud: a site SSH user, an authorized public key, and the correct SSH host/path.
- Kinsta: API key with site access or environment-specific SSH host, port and username; allowlist your IP if SSH restrictions are enabled.
SSH authentication
Use SSH keys for Windows connections. macOS and Linux can use a shared SSH connection for transfers; Windows uses separate connections.

ConnectLocal and Host Connect are independent tools by Marcus Burnette. They are not official Local, WP Engine, or hosting-provider products. Provider names identify compatibility.
